All India Organization of Imams of Mosques, the representative voice of the community of Indian Imams was established in 1976. This was formed to undertake at all levels the socio-economic issues which directly influence earnings of Imams, their status
in society and the expectations that the community and state have from them.

Reach:
In India there are more than half a million mosques and in each Mosque there is one Imam who leads the prayers and one Vice Imam/ Muazzin who looks after the management of prayers, its timing, structure and performance.
It is a strong community of one million which is regularly interacting with 200 million Muslims of India five times a day. This is the largest network of its kind in the world.
Elderly leadership:
Hazrat Maulana Jamil Ahmed Ilyasi, a noted scholar of Islam and its jurisprudence who is now almost 80 years of age is the Founder of this organization. He is widely revered in all the religious, spiritual and social circles around the world. He spends
most of his time in India and has therefore succeeded in taking this organization to a unique position that it enjoys today.
Leadership:
Hazrat Maulana Umer Ahmed Ilyasi is a great Islamic scholar who fully understands the present day environment and its peculiarities. He carries a global perspective and looks at developments in entirety. He is widely travelling and meeting people belonging
to all shades of opinion and denominations. His open-minded and flexible approach has earned him goodwill around the world. His recent visit to Israel and interaction with the highest leadership there bears testimony
to the fact stated. He is a strong believer in dialogue.
Achievements:
Networking of the large community of Imams at the district, state and national level Channelizing their energy for the performance of a progressive and reformative role Contested the case of regular compensation
for Imams of Mosques in the Apex court of India and winning the same. Succeeded in establishing State Tribunals for the management of WAKF (donated properties worth of 1, 00,000 crores of rupees) properties. All India Organization of Imams of Mosques is recognized as the legitimate voice of Imams of India by the government and Indian Judiciary.
